General Guidelines
We do this for free in our free time, and so deadlines sometimes have to be flexible.
We try to always have good manners with contributors and ask that you do the same with us (this has rarely been a problem).
Submit something you feel really proud of, and don't take rejection personally.
We find that our contributors self-select a lot of the time and send their stuff instinctively because it feels like a fit. But we do occasionally pass on submissions. Sometimes it is just a matter of taste or the submission just doesn't feel complete.
You can have your work rejected and still join a writing workshop or submit again in the next issue.
Don't let a magazine publication define you. Especially with newer artists, we get people bugging us about the exact date and time of submission so they can show their community. Though it's dope to get so excited, keep in mind that your work was worth being proud of before we decided to include it and it will be after. We're just a conduit to give you a larger audience and the opportunity to connect with like-minded artists :)
Excited to meet you and see your work! Cheers,
Sinkhole Editors
